For the first time this semester, the University College of the Cayman Islands is offering a range of ICT classes that are fully online and ‘learn at your own pace’ so that busy individuals can get the qualifications they need, at a time to suit them. The instructor will be available for any assistance, they will act more as a mentor or coach to keep the students in the class motivated.
The IT Academy offers a range of courses from MD-100 Windows 10 to Microsoft Azure Administrator. These courses are for mature individuals, new or already doing IT.
These courses run for 12 weeks and start times are to suit the individual. All self-paced instruction courses are offered at $475. All courses offered at self-paced include:
- MD-100 Windows 10
- MD-101: Managing Modern Desktops
- AZ-900 Microsoft Azure Fundamentals
- Microsoft Office 365
All IT Academy courses that have in person class times (not self-paced) and run for 11 weeks include:
- Comptia A+ (IT Essentials)
- CCNA ITN
- CCNA SRWE
- CCNA ENSA
“In this day and age, we want our students to continue their education in the safest way possible. With Cayman’s high demand for ICT skills we wanted to ensure everyone in our community had a chance to get ahead in their field, thinking of those in the working world and with families the self-paced courses were born. Our CICSO centre also helped make this happen, without the updated systems and programs this would be nearly impossible,” says Selgin Amador, IT Academy Programme Leader.
