Eligibility

    1. The Scholar must be Caymanian or hold the right to be Caymanian and must ensure full compliance with the terms of the award.
    2. Full-time UCCI Student enroled in Bachelor’s or Associate Degree
    3. Studying Liberal Arts, Social Sciences or the Sciences
    4. Possess a minimum G.P.A of 2.5 at the Bachelors level and a 2.25 at the Associates level
  • The application is only open to students who are fully enroled in either an Associates or Bachelor Programme at the University College of the Cayman Islands.

  • The scholarship can be used for either a *two year (2) Associates Degree or a *four year (4) Bachelor degree at the University College of the Cayman Islands in any of the following courses. Awards are not available to pre-college, certificate, professional, and continuing education programmes or finance. 

    Associate of Arts:

    Business Administration, Literary Studies, Primary Education, Social Sciences

    Associate of Science:

    Sciences,  Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Social Work

    Associate of Applied Science:

    Computer Science,

    Bachelor:

    Computer Science, Nursing, Social Work, Education, Social Sciences

  • To remain eligible, you must:

    • Maintain a minimum 2.5grade point average (GPA) at the bachelor’s level and 2.25 at the associate’s level
    • The Scholar must provide a fully executed grade release form
    • The Scholar is expected to meet twice per semester with a designated Student Life advisor to track progress against academic goals.
    • The University in its absolute discretion has right to withdraw or terminate any award, cease any further payments if the Scholar fails to do anything (in the reasonable opinion of the University), justifies the withdrawal of the scholarship, which may include but not be limited to the following circumstances:
      1. Scholar fails to commence the studies on time;
      2. If the Scholar falls below the mandatory GPA;
      3. Scholar ceases studies at UCCI;
      4. If the Scholar is guilty of misconduct; and
      5. Scholar is expelled from the educational institute;
    • Each year of funding (up to the maximum amount awarded) is renewable within limitations, and applicable towards the completion of studies.  The award will be paid directly to the institution of study, allocated to the Scholar’s student account. The award can be used to fund: travel, tuition, student and course fees, course texts, materials and supplies, and/or housing/living subsistence on campus. In the event circumstances do not allow for payment directly to the institution, the Scholar should provide detailed invoices and proof of payment once made.
    • Up to KYD$2,500 in financial aid renewable each year to cover the of cost tuition, fees, books and supplies for full-time enrolment
    • The University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI) will communicate directly with the scholarship applicants and recipients.
    • The Scholar must be Caymanian or hold the right to be Caymanian and must ensure full compliance with the terms of the award.
    • These scholarships are for Caymanians who are driven to improve the Cayman Islands and the funds are provided to support access to higher education by providing students of demonstrated need and academic potential to attain a post-secondary education at UCCI.
    • This award is a needs-based scholarship awarded solely at the discretion of the University.  The value is up to KYD$2,500 per annum and is renewable up to up to four years for Bachelor’s degree students and two years for full-time Associate’s students. Awards are not available to pre-college, certificate, professional, and continuing education programmes or finance.
    • In addition to submitting a completed application along with relevant supporting documents, the Scholar will be required to be interviewed by a selection panel determined by the University.
    • Each year of funding (up to the maximum amount awarded) is renewable within limitations, and applicable towards the completion of studies.  The award will be paid directly to the scholars UCCI account. The award can be used to fund: tuition, fees, books and supplies.
    • The Scholar must provide a fully executed grade release form.
    • The Scholar is expected to meet twice per semester with a designated Student Life advisor to track progress against academic goals.
  • The Scholar is expected to obtain and maintain valid medical insurance. The health insurance must provide coverage for major illness/health conditions, emergency health care as well as hospitalization. In event of unforeseen accident/illness that impedes the Scholar’s studies, he/she will be expected to inform the University immediately, through a third party if necessary.

  • Termination or Disputes

    • Scholars are expected to maintain an academic standing of a cumulative 2.5 grade point average (GPA) at the Bachelors level and a 2.5 at the Associates level.
    • The University in its absolute discretion has right to withdraw or terminate any award, cease any further payments if the Scholar fails to do anything (in the reasonable opinion of the University), justifies the withdrawal of the scholarship, which may include but not be limited to the following circumstances:
      1. Scholar fails to commence the studies on time;
      2. If the Scholar falls below the mandatory GPA;
      3. Scholar ceases studies at UCCI;
      4. If the Scholar is guilty of misconduct; and
      5. Scholar is expelled from the educational institute;
    • UCCI will, from time to time, release promotional information regarding the Scholar. By accepting the scholarship, the Scholar also consents to photos and select information (e.g. name, institution being attended and degree) to be released for advertising and public relations purposes.

Application Process

  • In addition to submitting a completed application along with relevant supporting documents, the Scholar will be required to be interviewed by a selection panel agreed by the Foundation. Applications are open from Dec 5, 2019 to December 31, 2019 for the Spring 2020 semester. Applications will reopen at the end of Summer for the Fall Semester.

  • Students will need to supply or upload the following documents, which will be requested to complete the application process.  Please ensure that you enclose the following documentation with this application:

    • Completed Application Form
    • Current CV/Resumé
    • Unofficial Transcript (High School/College)
    • Supporting evidence of other awarded scholarship(s)/ grants (if applicable)
    • Supporting Documents Showing Needs
    • 2 References
    • Proof of Caymanian Status
    • Signed copy of the Rules and Guidelines
  • Interviews for the scholarship will be facilitated at the University College of the Cayman Islands.
