Understanding the Competition

  • Objective: The poster competition is designed to allow students to showcase their research, projects, or innovative ideas related to business education, industry practices, or other relevant areas.
  • Audience: Consider that your audience will include academics, industry professionals, and peers. Tailor your content to be understandable yet insightful for a diverse group.

Eligibility

  • Open to all high school and college students in the Cayman Islands
  • Prizes for the top three posters
  • Judging based on creativity, relevance, and presentation
  • Submit your poster by November 12, 2024 (Extended to November 15)

Content Preparation

  • Select a Relevant Topic: Ensure your poster aligns with the themes of the IACBE Region 11 Conference. It could be related to business education, leadership, artificial intelligence, innovation, or any other area emphasized by the conference.

Designing the Poster

  • Simplicity: Avoid clutter. Your poster should be visually appealing but not overcrowded. Less is more when it comes to text. Focus on key points.
  • Visuals: Use charts, graphs, images, and diagrams to represent data. Visuals should complement your text, not replace it.
  • Font and Size: Ensure text is legible from a distance. Use a consistent font throughout, with titles and headings in a larger font size.
  • Color Scheme: Choose a professional and readable colour scheme. Ensure that there is enough contrast between text and background.
  • Poster Size: Keep your poster size in the range of 36" x 48" with only slight variations.

Presentation Skills

  • Prepare a Brief Oral Explanation: Be ready to explain your poster in a concise and engaging manner. Aim for a 2-3 minute summary of your work.
  • Practice Q&A: Anticipate questions that judges and audience members might ask. Practice answering them confidently.
Engagement: Be approachable and enthusiastic when presenting. Invite feedback and discussion from viewers.

Submission Guidelines

  • Registration: Ensure that you have followed all the necessary procedures for entering the competition.
  • Deadlines: Be aware of all submission deadlines.

Judging Criteria

  • Clarity and Organisation: Your poster should convey the idea of business and/or innovation clearly and logically.
  • Content and Relevance: The poster should be relevant and contribute to the field of business education or industry practice.
  • Visual Appeal: The poster design should be visually appealing and enhance understanding of business and innovation. A visually appealing poster will attract attention.
  • Presentation Skills: How well you explain your poster and engage with the judges and audience will play a role in your overall score.

  • Conduct: Be polite, respectful, and professional in all interactions during the conference.
