Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the Accountant – Financial Aid & Accounts Receivable is responsible for managing all aspects of the accounts receivable process, including invoicing, payment processing, and collections. This shall include but not be limited to verifying receipts for goods sold or services rendered.

Review and distribute accurate invoices and proformas to students/customers in a timely manner. Managing the automated billing process for tuition revenue and monitoring accounts to identify outstanding debts along with proactive follow-up.  Other functions shall include reconciliation of accounts and monthly review of student account balances in relationship to approved student payment plans. It will also be necessary to collaborate with other departments to resolve billing discrepancies and respond to client inquiries.

This post shall maintain accurate records of financial aid awards and ensure timely disbursement of funds to eligible recipients. Shall participate in the development of institutional financial aid policies and procedures. This post shall also act as the University’s liaison with the Ministry for Local Government Scholarships and serve as a point person for student queries. Shall, collaborate regularly with Faculty & Staff, particularly the Director Admissions, Registrar, Marketing as well as others. The ideal candidate will maintain precise financial records, uphold compliance with relevant regulations, and provide exceptional service to stakeholders.

Knowledge, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience in a finance-related role.
  • Familiarity working in tertiary education and/or in a public entity would be an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel.
  • Be sufficiently familiar with and have a clear understanding of the Cayman Islands’ PMFL and its impact on their professional output.
  • Proactively resolves problems and builds strong team relationships.
  • High level of integrity in dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.
  • When necessary, the Accountant – Financial Aid & Accounts Receivable must be prepared to work outside normal office hours to meet deadlines and reporting requirements when necessary.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
  • Possesses excellent time management skills and the ability to independently prioritize various important deliverables.

 Compensation:

  • Salary Range: KYD $53,616.00 – KYD $70,344.00 per annum. (GRADE L)
  • Contributory medical, pension and annual leave (20 days).
