Auto Repairs and Maintenance (Level 1)

Duration: One Year 

Course Outline

Certification Body – Institute of Motor Industry (IMI) International Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair 

This course aims to develop participants with the requisite knowledge, work ethic, safety awareness and skill sets needed to efficiently work in the Automotive Industry as an apprentice or technician.  Trainees will be able to complete routine repairs, while ensuring that the health and safety practices are observed and carried out.  IMI Level 2 course is for individuals who have minimal knowledge of motor vehicle repairs and are keen on learning how to service and repair vehicles in hopes of becoming a Certified Mechanic

Pre-requisite – Successfully completed level 1 or possess prior knowledge, skills, and competencies 

Course Objectives

By the end of the course participants will be able to: 

  1. Inspect motorized and mechanical equipment; diagnose problems and determine extent of necessary repairs; perform routine preventive maintenance.
  2. Replace or repair faulty parts including wheel bearings, clutches, oil seals, shock absorbers, exhaust systems, steering mechanisms and related parts and equipment.
  3. Diagnose, maintain, and repair electrical system components, ignition systems, alternators, starters, and batteries.
  4. Estimate time, materials and equipment required for jobs assigned; requisition materials as required; maintain inventory of shop supplies.
