Dr. Randall Pinder is an Associate Professor of English in the Department of Arts & Humanities at the University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI). Dr. Pinder began as an education major (English and Religious Studies) at the College of The Bahamas, and completed his Bachelor’s Degree in English at Stetson University. He earned his Master’s in English from Wake Forest University, and completed his Ph.D. studies in the Joint Program in English and Education at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Dr. Pinder’s early career in education included teaching high school Language Arts for four years in Nassau, Bahamas, and working as a writer and grader for BGCSE Literature. Before joining the faculty at UCCI, Dr. Pinder was an Assistant Professor in the School of English Studies at the College of The Bahamas, serving as the College English Coordinator, Head of Department, and Writing Programme Coordinator during his 17-year tenure. His interests include college writing, adult literacy, Bahamian literature, and how educational institutions and students communicate their expectations. In his free time, he loves to experience the world through reading and travel.
