Kristel Joanne Sanchez is a marketing communications professional who joined UCCI in October 2010. As Director of Marketing, Public Relations and Alumni, she is tasked with the development and execution of strategies that seek to promote the University College's academic programmes, events and initiatives. She also serves as a liaison for members of the press, alumni and UCCI's stakeholders.
She collaborates with various departments on projects such as the STEM Carib Conference, UCCI STEM Camp, UCCI STEM Ambassadors Programme, UCCI Performing Arts concerts, TEDxUCCI, and other institutional events.
Kristel brings a strong agency background providing marketing, PR and advertising services to a diverse portfolio of clients including non-profits and organisations in the finance, tourism, insurance, services and healthcare industries in the Cayman Islands. She was also a regular contributor at Cayman Net News and was the Project Manager for its weekly Lifestyles magazine and annual Hurricane Preparedness and Christmas supplements.
A firm believer in “paying it forward”, she has volunteered for the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce’s Mentoring Cayman, a programme that matches high school students with professionals who share common interests and career choices. She was also a founding member of the committee that established the Ken Chand 5K/10K Memorial Walk, an event that seeks to raise awareness for the importance of heart health.
Before coming to Cayman, Kristel started off her career in the Corporate Communications Office of her alma mater, the University of the Cordilleras, where she graduated with a degree in Mass Communications. She is a member of the American Marketing Association.
