Dr. Paula Grace Anderson-Suarez has been with the Department of Arts and Humanities as a Senior Lecturer for over a decade. Her usual teaching portfolio includes courses in English Composition; English, American, and Caribbean Literatures; Business Communication; and Management Psychology, with special reference to Work Ethics and Motivation.
The USA Fulbright Fellowship Awardee hails from Jamaica, where she was educated at the Convent of Mercy Academy in Kingston. She received her B.A. (Special Honours) English at the University of West Indies in Mona, before attending the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada where she pursued her MA Honors and Ph.D. in English.
Dr. Anderson-Suarez specialises in teaching adults who have been out of the classroom for several years; teaching classes that represent diversity on many levels; responding to a multi-cultural environment and clientele in positive ways; Course Outline Creation and Materials Development, in ways that combine textual materials with a cross-genre perspective; and using gender analysis as a pathway to integrative, critical thinking.
Prior to joining UCCI, she has taught at the College of the Bahamas in Nassau, Bahamas and the University of the West Indies in Mona, Jamaica. Dr. Anderson-Suarez is also fluent in Spanish and French.
