Katrina Carter Tellison

Dr. Katrina Carter-Tellison is a Caymanian who began her formal education at the Catholic School. She attended the Cayman Islands Middle and High School where she graduated with A-Levels in 1989. After graduating, she attended the University of Miami and earned a Bachelor degree in Psychology. Later while finishing her Masters in Social Work, she was awarded a full scholarship to attend the University of Miami for a doctorate. In 2004, she graduated with a Ph.D. in Sociology. Dr. Carter-Tellison’s intellectual interests and research pursuits have focused on primarily three areas: curriculum, immigration and inequality and social stratification.
In 2004, Dr. Katrina Carter-Tellison moved to Lynn University with already impressive credentials in teaching, academic administration and research. In 2008, she was promoted to Associate Professor of Sociology and appointed as Chair of Lynn’s new core curriculum: The Dialogues of Learning. Dr. Carter-Tellison received the highest faculty honor as she was named “Faculty Member of the Year.” In 2009, she was promoted to the Chair of the Center for Liberal Education. This is her current position, and as the Chair for the College she is responsible for the administrative supervision of over 50 faculty and staff, and schedules more than 400 courses per academic year.
Dr. Carter-Tellison has given more than twenty professional presentations and has also published several articles and co-edited six books.
Although Dr. Carter-Tellison works abroad, she returns home to Cayman frequently, including vacations during Christmas and the summer with her husband and twin boys.
